Babies who have been troubled with Reflux, may go on to have episodes of Croupe.
Croup is a common childhood ailment. Typically, it arises from a viral infection of the larynx (voice box) and is associated with mild upper respiratory symptoms such as a runny nose and cough. The key symptom is a harsh barking cough.
Croupe can be linked to Infant Reflux, as during reflux episodes the Larynx can sustain some damage and over time this can cause the larynx to bcome prone to infections. Croup is usually not serious, and most children recover within a few days. In a small percentage of cases, a child develops breathing difficulties and may need medical attention.
Croup can occur at any time of the year, but it is most typical during early autumn and winter. Children who are suffering from croup or any other infection of the cords and upper trachea, may find relief from symptoms by being in the same room as a steam humidifier.
The congestion and coughing associated with respiratory syncytial virus
